Introduction
Do you remember lockdown of 2020? Everyone was locked inside so we were all sharing ideas on how to keep occupied, well around that time we ordered a butterfly kit!
I must say, I wasn’t keen but my husband was and was very enthusiastic so we thought we’d give it a go!
We bought a kit similar to this, our packaging is slightly different!
It came with a pot from Insect Lore, which contains live caterpillars.
These grow with the food provided before becoming chrysalis.
It’s great to watch and pretty straightforward
They are quite boring while in a chrysalis but for then, slowly, emerge the butterflies!!
You can give they fruit, sugar solution etc. (Information is included in the package!)
And then, after a few days, we released them. This is the best bit! When they are released, they are a bit slow so make these lovely pictures.
And then we watch them fly off! Sometimes, we see them fly past again, other times they disappear to find a new home.
We imagine they live a great life and lay eggs, making more butterflies in the future.
